28 Drawings Later, February drawing challenge 2012

Project

28 Drawings later is a drawing challenge and social networking project created by visual artist Victoria Evans. The result is an evolving, month-long, participatory online gallery which encourages everyone, artists and non-artists alike, to see what might happen if they made time to draw every day for a month.

The challenge culminated in an offline 'real world' exhibition of work at Gallery Hair, The Old Hairdressers in Renfield Lane, Glasgow City Centre.

My 28 drawings evolved from slightly humerous pencil drawings to intense observational drawings of skulls, feathers and birds. Midway through the challenge I began drawing photorealistic charcoal birds and continued exploring this theme for a series of 11 pictures. Most of the drawings can be viewed in the Drawing section of this website.

Myriam Thyes's 'Flag Metamorphosis'

Project

Creation of three animations included in the showreel which tell a story between two countries by morphing the symbols from the flags.

A participatory art project animated by artists from across the globe. The flags of all nations in the world are morphed into each other through Flash animation. Between each two flags, scenes appear that show a relation between the two countries.

To date the project has had over 50 screenings in over 23 countries of the world including Sydney Opera House, festivals in Indonesia and Cameroon and on digital billboards in city centres, train stations and other public spaces.
